A Little About Me
Hello, my name is Adriana Pavelescu and I’m a clinical Psychologist and Hypnotherapist. I have over 11 years’ experience working in psychology and mental health.
Over the several years I trained to become a clinical psychologist, I was continually fascinated by the latest studies in cognitive and affective psychology, and psychodynamic schools of thought. The enriching ways these approaches interact ultimately convinced me that no single, overarching theory should be expected to unlock the subtleties and complexity of an individual’s unique mind.
What I Offer
My training and experience enable me to utilise different approaches with different people (children, teenagers, adults) according to the current research evidence and taking into account an individual’s preferences and needs. I often use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help people to move forward and overcome their problems, but I am also trained in Hypnotherapy, Solution Focus Therapy, Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and compassion-focused approaches.
Each of these approaches brings its own valuable perspective to an issue, but these can also be powerfully enhanced when carefully integrated with other models. I work with each client to combine these in a way that is specific to their needs and circumstances, to best help them manage their difficulties, and fully express their potential.
I am dedicated to my work and feel honoured to work with people both during and following difficult and challenging times of their lives. I understand how daunting it can be to seek support initially and make that first step, and then secondly to meet with someone like me. I will endeavour to put you at ease in order for us to work together on an understanding about what is happening for you, your hopes (and maybe reservations), and a plan of how we will work towards the future you would like to see beyond the end of therapy.
